FOX AND GEESE
I'm not certain of the age of this board and these marbles. I would guess that the turned mahogany board is late nineteenth/early twentieth century. My first thought was that it could be used as a solitaire board as well but then I realised that there's no place for the marbles which you take off as there is on a solitaire board. The marbles aren't original to the board but make a nice set. The rules of the game can be found easily on-line and it seems that there can be 13, 15 or 17 geese so I opted for the 17. If you prefer fewer, just take some away! It's all in very good condition. PRICE £30.00

A LITTLE JAPANESE PUZZLE
Well, I think it's Japanese. I've seen Japanese puzzle boxes and other items with this kind of decoration. This is a block of wood about 3.5" long. On top is a drawn decoration (Mount Fuji?). The block has been cut so that there are two chairs and a table, two smaller tables and a stool/solid block. There is one stool missing and the chairs and one of the small tables have been mended at some point in their history. I'd guess that it is from the mid 20th century but it could be earlier. It all comes in a little oriental box that has seen better days but it's a nice little curio. PRICE: £5.00(I can send further photos if required)

SOLITAIRE - UNKNOWN MAKE
This is a nice set of Solitaire with a wooden board and a set of marbles. It comes in a plain box with no indication of maker. It's probably never been used and is in excellent condition. PRICE: £10.00

PEG LOCK BLOCKS
Made by the Peg Lock Block Co. Inc. around 1900, I'm not sure what brought these building bricks to England. They remind me of that other American construction set, Tinkertoy, in that the plain wooden bricks have holes in which are used with little wooden pegs to join them to other plain wooden bricks. There are several shapes - long and thin, longer and thin, square, triangular and long and flat plus a little box of pegs. The box holding the pegs is interesting in that it has the logo from the Bogota Folding Paper Box Co. of Bogota, New Jersey. The lid to this little box has been torn off but is still here. The set comes in its original planed pine(?) box with its original sliding lid which now just sits on top. PRICE: £40.00

RICHTER'S ANCHOR BLOCKS SET c 1900 - 1910
This is a complete set of Richter's Blocks described on the booklet inside as "Richter's Designs for Architectural Models No. E/3. Second Stage for building with stones of the large Calibre. Size of cube = 1 in."
The stones are in incredibly good condition with only a few very small nibbles to a few corners, the metal parts are in excellent condition and the booklet, while tatty with some pages detached, is complete and readable - in French, German and English. The outer box which was made originally with metal ties on the corners, is still in great condition and the illustrated lid (both front and reverse) still slides easily over the contents. PRICE: £90.00
AND Another, bigger set without the metal parts. This one isn't quite so old (slightly different lid, made in Germany for sale in England). It is set no. 1 and looks complete. There is a multi-lingual booklet which is whole but very tatty. For photos or more details, email me. PRICE: £110.00

MILITARY WHIST SET - NUMBER 1a
This is a large white box containing silk Flags for six countries, including one large of each and 18 small as well as six "castles" and a very excellent book of "Rules and Directions by Jackpot". The six countries represented in box 1a are U.S.A., Australia, Denmark, China, between 1912 and 1928 which helps to date the game to somewhere in that range. I believe it to be in the early part because of the very Art Nouveau decoration around the edge of the lid. Also included in the set are six cards of "Table Rules". The box, castles, flags and rules are all in excellent condition. The box lid is grubby and has a small piece of one edge missing at a corner. PRICE: £45.00

LOTTO
I have lots of different sets of Lotto - some quite old (up to 90 or 100 years), some about 50 years old. This one is one of the older ones - from the beginning of the 20th century. It has 90 wooden discs with the numbers on, over 30 lotto cards and two sheets to put the numbers on when they've been called. The numbers are in an old pigeon food bag made of cotton and advertising B.O.Y. seeds sold at a shop called Brinkler Osborne and Young Ltd in Brixton. The box shows signs of wear (don't we all!) and has been taped, very tidily, with a fabric tape. PRICE: £15.00
If you want to see some older or younger sets, email for photos

THE GAME OF THE RACE - F.H. AYRES. LTD
The little box holds four lead horses and a die and the board may - or may not - be the original but this is a nice looking set. The slide-top box is mahogany and in good condition though there is a partition missing inside. The four-fold board is in lovely condition and has a Snakes and Ladders board on two of the folds and a chess board on the other two when turned over. They both date from around 1900. PRICE: reserved

THE PIGGERIES
This is a WOW! An Edwardian game from Spears when they were still making them in Bavaria, in excellent condition, complete and fun. There is a pig house with a trough which you build from the original wooden parts, there are the three wooden ramps up which the pigs travel and there are three wooden pigs who are threaded in such a way that you can make them go up the ramps one step at a time if you are careful enough. It is all packed in its original maroon box which says, in gold lettering "The Piggeries Edition De Luxe For 3 Players". There is also still a small sales label showing that it was purchased at Gamages London for the princely sum of 5/11 - a lot of money before the first world war, I expect. The instructions are in the lid. It has been so well looked after that I can only imagine that it was brought out once a year at Christmas and played with by the grand-children with the aid of their parents - me and my imagination! PRICE: £110.00

BEAUTIFUL AYRES SANDOWN GAME IN MAHOGANY BOX
What a surprise when I came across this set of SANDOWN! I've seen it in old but small form and more modern but still small form, never in this size. The box, mahogany with a lockable lift-off lid, is a foot square, the gambling mat is 4 feet long and there is a separate box holding twenty cards relating to the horses plus a whole load of counters and the bone "finishing post" which is inserted into the box when it's open (if you left it in and closed it, it would break!) The wheel is in immaculate condition although the baize lining the surround shows its age. This is an heirloom and a playable game - a real treat! PRICE: £150.00 (IT'S HEAVY SO WILL COST A FAIR AMOUNT TO POST AS WELL!)

SPEARS (BAVARIA) CARD HOUSES
This is a lovely box full of alphabet cards (52) together with plain cards which can be used to build a "house". Each card has either a slot or a tab and they fit together to make a little inverted 'V' shape. You can put together several then lay the plain cards along the top and build up further. The cards are chromo-lithographs of animals (E - Elephant, P - Parrott (sic), F - Falcon etc) and are in excellent condition for a game that must be approaching 100 years if it hasn't already reached it. Six of the cards have bends but all are still whole and usable. The cards come with an A4 size sheet which describes the different houses that can be built (including Canterbury Cathedral!) The box has been taped with bandage tape some time in the dim and distant past but is whole and has a beautiful lid picture. PRICE: £35.00

HARD MOSAIC
This is more vintage than antique but is more toy than game so I thought I'd put it on this page. It was made in Czechoslovakia probably in the 1930's or 1950's. There is a wooden base full of little square holes and lots of cubes and cubes cut diagonally into triangles which fit into the little holes to make patterns. There are five slips of paper, each with three suggestions for pictures to make. The box base, board, cubes and papers are all in good condition, the box lid is in poor condition. PRICE: £10.00

DE LA RUE & CO'S COMBINED POCKET CHESS AND DRAUGHT BOARD WITH CHESS AND DRAUGHTS-MEN
This is a very special antique game, made around 1870, in excellent condition and complete with all playing pieces. I couldn't believe my luck when I found this as they are so rare! This one is missing its envelope. Have a look at the two photos to see how very nice this set is! PRICE: £250.00
