THE GAME OF IN AND OUT
I’m sure this game has been played by everyone in one form or another! There is a box (about 10” x 10”) which has been divided inside into 25 little spaces – each numbered either 5, 10 or 15. There are six little wooden balls which are thrown from an agreed distance into the box and the score for each person is totalled. From the graphics I would guess that the game was made in the 1930’s – there’s no clue who made it but it was made in England and is of British Manufacture, as stated on the lid (inside of which you will find the rules). The box is in very good condition, the lid has split corners but is otherwise excellent. PRICE: £18.00

IDDY UMPTY - THE NEW WIRELESS CARD GAME
This little game by Thomas De La Rue & Co. is supposed to be a way of learning Morse Code. There's no date on the game and I haven't been able to find out anything about it but I'm sure that it was produced in the first half of the twentieth century. The cards are complete and barely used, the box is in excellent condition with it's top edges just a little rubbed. The rules of the game (a small two page leaflet on card)are present though the two pages have come apart. A rare and interesting addition to a collection, priced at : £20.00

WINKLE'S WEDDING
This is a small set of the popular game, dating from the early part of the twentieth century (1920's/30's) and in good condition with lots of word cards and a booklet that is in very good condition. The box is fair though the label is in great condition. PRICE: £20.00

EN ROUTE GAME - by Jaques
This is a rare and early board game which was made before 1930 (I could tell because the city in Turkey is Constantinople, not Istanbul!). There is a separate board with a small box beautifully illustrated with a red train on the lid. Both box and lid have tape on and I hesitate to remove it because someone will want this game to collect and will have a better idea of conserving it. The board also has some pencil writing on the map which stretches from the Atlantic to Asia but the writing doesn't stick out! The game comes with instructions, sheets describing different routes, "sea tickets" and "passports" and an array of bone counters. PRICE: £60.00

RING'EM - "An exciting game for any Number of Players"
This is an English-made game which, on first glance seems to come from the 1950's - the graphics on the lid are definitely that late - but the figures and the graphics on the inside make you think it could be older....whatever, it's in lovely condition and complete with four rubber rings to toss, the 'Animal Board' which has the four figures on and is erected in the box by means of two stained wooden blocks which are still there and still perfect. There are also 'nursery' pictures with scores on in the base of the box in case the ring doesn't go round one of the figures. A playable game as well as a collectable item. PRICE: £30.00
and another, similar, called THE NURSERY RHYMES RING GAME, by Glevum and based on the three little pigs. The box is very tired but the game itself is in excellent condition. As with the game above, you slot a "character board" into the box (it has an extra layer of cardboard along the back of the box)and there are four (of the possibly five) rings present. PRICE: £18.00 (EMAIL FOR PHOTO)

ANCHOR STONE PUZZLE - EARLY 20TH CENTURY
This is a really excellent set of 'stones' by Anchor (same as Richter Anchor Blocks). This is Puzzle Drive set no. 17 - "The Wrath Breaker". It is complete with all stones in great condition, a booklet showing 113 variants you can form with these stones and the original box, also in fantastic condition. The booklet and box have a bit of foxing but are otherwise in pristine condition. PRICE: sold
And - a set of 'stones' which make a square. The seven 'stones' are in good condition although there are a few tiny nibbles on a couple of them. They come without their original box but with a whole set of cut-outs of tangram patterns from 1930's newspapers (there are interesting tit-bits on the reverse of these cut-outs including what was on the radio, some stock-market prices etc.).
PRICE:sold (for photo, please email me)
And - a Kreuzzerbrecher!. This is another Richter puzzle using the same type of 'stones' but this time it's The Cross Puzzle. It comes in a nice old box with Greek key pattern around the edge of the label. The box has split corners. There is a good booklet showing all the patterns that can be made. One of the 'stones' has a tiny chip off one point. PRICE: £15.00
and - A set of Richter's Anchor Blocks (no. E/3) which includes all the original blocks, original metal items, a booklet describing the buildings which can be made with this set and the original pine box with sliding lid. This set dates to between 1905 and 1910 and is in remarkably good condition. The lid of the box has been repaired and the booklet has some detached (but present) pages. Please email for photos. PRICE: £90.00 (Please note that this set is very heavy and will cost quite a bit to send - even in the UK!)

WHIRLETTO - A GAME FOR EVERYONE
This game uses a gyroscope/spinning top, plastic 'balls' containing ball bearings and the box it all comes in. In the centre of the bottom of the box is a little metal dish. You spin the gyroscope, put your 'balls' into the box with it and hope that they are hit by the gyroscope and sent through one of the four holes into the corners (the bottom of the box has a diamond shaped framework with these holes in - whoever said I was great at description anyway?). All the bits are there except for one of the 'balls' including the rules which are in the lid. The game is "MADE IN ENGLAND" by an unknown maker. The box is in very good condition for a cardboard box made in the 30's and has a wonderful picture on the lid. PRICE: GBP 30.00

BERWICK TARGET TIDDLYWINKS - GREAT GRAPHICS!
This is a Tiddlywinks game played on a board the theme of which is Robin Hood. It includes a plastic cup which sits in the middle of a target with numbers and pitfalls. There is also a set of tiddlywinks. The set was probably made in the early to mid 1950's and is in good condition although the box lid has one split corner as does the box base. PRICE: £15.00 and
another Tidleywinks (notice different spelling!) by J.W.S.and S. Bavaria (Spears). The box is red with silver coloured writing - very Edwardian - and the contents are a small wooden cup, a set of (mostly) bone counters and a rule sheet. For a photo, please email me. PRICE: £16.00
and lots more Tiddleywinks sets from £5.00. Let me know your needs and I'll send photos, descriptions and prices!

WHO KNOWS? John Jaques game
"Who Knows" is 'an intellectual and exciting game' published around 1930. There is a bag full of questions (Where is Long Island? Off the coast of New York.) and a set of cards with divisions on to place those you get right. The winner is the player who fills his card first (36 right answers). PRICE: £15.00 (Tap Building is sold)

POPEYE THE SAILOR MODEL BOOK
If you’re into Popeye, this is for you! It was produced by Birn Brothers Ltd, I’d guess in the thirties and contains figures to cut out of all the best known characters from the cartoons. On the back it says: “Say Folks. I’m goin’ for a cruise. Rough House is me cook; Wimpy is me deck hand; Bill Barnacle is Bos’n and Poopdeck me chief Engineer…..” The book is made of strong card and isn’t stapled together so that the first and last pages opened out are the “scene” and the other four pages have the characters in various poses. Let me know if you want further pictures. PRICE: £30.00

COMICAL CLOWNS - A TARGET SHOOTING GAME
This was possibly made by Chad Valley though it just says made in England....I say this because the "rifles" in the set are the same as the "rifles" in the Rifle Range game on my first games page. One of the rifles in this set has been broken but the other is good and there is no ammunition but this could be made from wooden beads which aren't difficult to get hold of. The great thing with this game is the graphics - those on the lid and those on the clowns' heads. The heads are hung on wire stands which sit in holes along a piece of wooden base. There are six wire stands and six clowns' heads. The rules are in the lid. PRICE: £25.00 (THANKS STEVE, FOR THE INFO: DESPITE THE SIMILARITY OF "RIFLES", THE GAME WAS PRODUCED BY GLEVUM (ROBERTS BROTHERS GAMES)

AVIATION - BY H.P.GIBSON & SONS LTD C.1940's
This game, which is in excellent condition, is sub-titled "The aerial tactics game of attack and defence" and it is much like L'Attaque and Dover Patrol, by the same company. This copy is complete, the only drawbacks being a small area of loss of the front picture where someone has put sellotape at some time, then removed it and one of the corners of the lid is broken. Now it needs someone who wants to play the game. Price: £95.00
AND.... Another 30's/40's set complete and in good condition except for the box which has been taped at some time - the adhesive is gone, the tape removed and the corners are once again split. PRICE: GBP 65.00

64 MILESTONES OF LIFE
This rare game is in good, used condition and complete. It was made in about 1938 by Waddingtons. The board shows 64 different phases of life - from babyhood to school, marriage and, finally, home and the object is to get to the "home" with your partner before the others. The pieces are whole, the board undamaged - a steal at...... Price: SOLD
AND, ONE JUST IN WITH A LITTLE PAPER DAMAGE TO THE BOARD £65.00 RESERVED

TIVOLI BAGATELLE
This is a nice looking little bagatelle, approximately 14.5" x 7". There is a heavy card base (like the bottom part of a box) with a wooden slat inside the right hand side and a spring/pull thing which shoots marbles up into the bagatelle. There are five holes, 3 "bays" and a bell. Each hole and bay has a score. The holes should each have two pins to help trap the marbles but three of the pins are missing. Otherwise this is in pretty good condition. The decoration looks 30's to me with the crinoline lady-type girl kissing the curly headed boy. It says Made in England on the inside. PRICE: £12.00 (INCLUDING 5 MARBLES)

BULLS AND BEARS - 1930'S
This is a game about making money - or losing it - on the stock exchange, devised in 1936 by the man who invented Monopoly and made by the same firm, Parker Bros. Inc. It is complete except for one stock card (and another which is missing but replaced by a hand-made one). The rules are tatty but readable and the whole game is in good, used condition. Several of the little metal chairs are missing legs. The graphics are good and the board is in very good condition, though a little faded down the fold. Surprisingly, the box has no split corners but it is grubby. Price: GBP 65.00
and the game of
RICH UNCLE in a somewhat tatty box £68.00

TIDLEY SKITTLES - GLEVUM GAMES
This is another of those really clean games I recently bought which is in excellent condition. It consists of a 'board' marked in different areas which have numbers, 9 little wooden skittles and some early plastic counters - there are two large ones missing. The rules are in the lid and the lid has graphics direct from the thirties. PRICE: £20.00

JOURNEY BY AIR - SPEARS GAME, 1930'S
This game is great for the graphics on the box! There is a Junkers 52 which seems to have been a passenger plane before becoming a troop carrier for the Germans at the beginning of the war. The box itself has all the corners split and one end and other pieces of the lid are missing as well as being scribbled on inside. The board, which is wonderfully colourful, is in great condition. Any other pieces which may have been included are long gone but the rules are in the lid and you could easily play with your own dice and counters. Because of the state of the box the price is only PRICE: GBP 20.00

TOUCH AND GO - A CHAD VALLEY GAME
This is a gorgeous looking box and the pieces of the game are great, too. The object of the game is to roll an egg-shaped roller up the line of "gold" strips and see how far each player gets. It is very unfortunate that one of the egg-shaped ends is missing as are three axles but there is one complete roller and all the gold strips. The rules are in the lid (which has a small tear in it) PRICE: £20.00

THE POPULAR GAME OF MAGENETIC FISHING GAME - ALSO CALLED MAGNETIC FISHPONDS
This is a nice copy of this old game - probably from the late 20's/early 30's and made in Britain. The original box includes a 'fishing pond', two 'fishing poles', each with a magnet and eighteen 'fish' plus the rules which are in the lid. There should be an 'old boot' which is not there but there is some extra wire so that you can make your own items to put in the 'pond'. All in good, played-with condition. PRICE: £35.00
