LIST OF GWR PUZZLES NOT MENTIONED(?) ON OTHER PAGES
This list was made some time ago. I think it's complete and that I still have these but enquire and I'll make sure!
BRITAIN'S MIGHTIEST - series 1 box, 2 remade but not painted pieces - £40.00 (photo available)
AND ANOTHER IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND COMPLETE in a slightly tatty series one box - £75.00 (PHOTO AVAILABLE)
HISTORIC TOTNES in a pink book box and complete - £35.00 (photo available)
WARWICK CASTLE in brown box with black label, with one beautifully re-made piece - £40.00 (photo available) and ANOTHER, complete in series one box, in excellent condition.- £45.00
KING GEORGE V loco. in green book box with 1 edge piece missing - £30.00 (photo available)
and another complete, £40.00 (ref2009/10)
THE ST. JULIEN - side view. This is a great jigsaw with colouring like it's been done with coloured pencils. The top of the picture follows the outline of the ship, the bottom has a wavy edge. Sadly, it is missing one edge piece (sea) and has no box. Several of the right hand mast pieces are missing small pieces of paper and/or a tiny bit of ply and two pieces have been picked up by a dog but got away from it before it could leave more damage than a few tooth marks! Because of all these faults, this rare and desirable jigsaw is a paltry £45.00 (photo available)
and ST JULIEN, 3/4 VIEW - Nice copy, sadly missing one piece of the ship, interesting colour cutting IN SERIES ONE BOX £25.00
RMS BERENGARIA - in a series four (very faded on the front) pink box which doesn't mention Cunard or GWR. The puzzle is good though there is one edge piece with a slight dent and a very small lost 'spur' (probably a cut that went wrong as the very, very tiny missing bit would only have been a whisker thick); the box is fair. This is the rarest Berengaria because of its box not mentioning Cunard or GWR! £65.00 (photo above)
CAERPHILLY CASTLE - A good copy of this puzzle which comes in a brown series 1 box - interesting because the cut is "coat-hanger" and the sepia guide picture which is printed on the lid is of a different view of this train! The box is in poor condition and needs a little loving restoration. (there are two very tiny bits missing - maybe a couple of millimeters at the most) PRICE: £45.00 (PHOTO AVAILABLE)
SWANSEA DOCKS - Sold between 1928 and 1932, this puzzle comes in a series 1 box which is in good condition. It is complete with 1 broken knob which is present. Not a usual cut for GWR puzzles in that part of it is cut round the objects. PRICE: £40.00 (PHOTO AVAILABLE)
CATHEDRAL/MAP - The only double-sided jigsaw by GWR. In series 1 brown box, sepia guide picture printed on lid. Complete and in excellent condition, box v. good. PRICE: £35.00 (PHOTO AVAILABLE) AND ANOTHER BUT IN THE RARE RED BOX - £50.00
THE CORNISH RIVIERA EXPRESS - This is a complete puzzle, pieces cut in the "coat-hanger" style with a wavy edge and in its original series one box. Overall it is a good puzzle but there are lots of very tiny white marks which I thought were nicks but, looking closely aren't. They appear, instead, to be a fault in the printing...I could be wrong but there is no 'depth' to the marks so I could also be right! PRICE: £20.00 (PHOTO AVAILABLE)
WINDSOR CASTLE - The one with the knights at the bottom of the hill. This puzzle is sadly lacking three edge pieces (two sky at the top, one sky at the side) but is in good condition otherwise. The box is a series one and not great. Because of all these faults, PRICE: £15.00 (photo available)
SPRINGTIME IN DEVON - FINGLE BRIDGE - Complete and in good condition with its original Series 1 box (only fair condition). The artist is Edith A. Andrews. PRICE: £40.00 (photo available)
LONDON HIGHWAYS - One of the rarer puzzles, this is a GWR that has the initials CP instead - standing for Carter Paterson and Co. Ltd, the road transport part of GWR. The puzzle is in good condition apart from one missing sky piece and is in its original series 4 green box with a colour guide picture. PRICE: £40.00
(photo available) and
ANOTHER COPY OF THIS FABULOUS PUZZLE BUT THIS TIME IT'S COMPLETE! PRICE:£75.00 (PHOTO AVAILABLE)
BRAZENOSE COLLEGE - Complete in a faded blue Series 2 box, this puzzle has approximately 400 pieces and was painted by Claude Buckle. The picture is very 20's/30's - I love it! Some of the pieces are a bit warped but it all fits together quite nicely, nonetheless. PRICE: £30.00 (photo available)
THE TORBAY EXPRESS - 375 piece puzzle with one missing (sky), and one piece with dog tooth marks, this is a lovely jigsaw showing the train on the tracks above the beach. There are people walking along the beach in 30's dress and beach huts in the distance. The picture is by FNJ Moody and the puzzle comes in a blue series 2 box. PRICE: £30.00 (photo available)
GLORIOUS DEVON - COMPLETE AND EXCELLENT CONDITION in series 1 box with colour picture on front. £30.00
PADDINGTON STATION -a good copy of this puzzle except for two missing pieces on lower edge (one above the other). It comes in series 1 brown box £30.00

THREE IN ONE GAME BY POPLAR PLASTICS
This is a bigger - though not huge, by any means - game than the preceding ones. There is a red square box (in great condition) and inside thirty two chess pieces which, when turned upside down, become "draughts" or solitaire pieces. The game is complete and comes with its very tatty box which has the rules around the edges - of which only one is left! PRICE: £3.00
Small wooden jigsaws at reasonable prices!
Ponda Spring Flowers - about 150 pc. £8.00 1 small lobe missing
Georgie Porgie Victory children's puzzle about 40 pc. 3 lobes missing £3.00
Holyrood Palace - A Cotswold puzzle, complete £3.00
Stratford on Avon - Victory 100 pc. £10.00
Mousehole ( A Safe Anchorage) Victory complete £5.00
Cornish Riviera Express - Victory 60 pc. £5.00
Armand Dennis/Philmar puzzle - Large Moose 40 pc £5.00 complete

BOARD GAME BOARDS
This one is called Our Puppy's Adventures which is part of the 'Ariel' Series, made in Britain. The board is a gorgeous race from 1 to 60 with a sort of story. The puppy 'escapes', meets cats and doges, is caught, gets away, nearly gets hit by a car, gets a toothache etc. Sometimes he can go on, sometimes he has to go back. If, eventually, he reaches 60 he is at home again and can have a well earned rest. All you need to make this game complete is a few counters and a dice (I can provide these, too!) PRICE: £8.00

SNAKES AND LADDERS
I have quite a few Snakes and Ladders boards. Some come in a box with a die, others on their own. The one pictured here is particularly old and interesting. I believe it is late Victorian/Edwardian and by an unknown maker. It has seen better days but is in remarkably good condition for something made basically of paper about 100 years old. The pictures show happy and sad children - depending on where they are on the board. PRICE: £8.00
Another nice little cardboard one is in green with pictures of children, some at the end of snakes, some at the bottom of ladders. The ones at the end of snakes are sad or in pain, friendless of pugnacious, poor or mischievous. The ones at the bottoms of the ladders are sympathtic, grateful, thrifty, forgiving and graceful etc. This is a lovely little board for £4.00
Others are from £2.00 to £8.00 or more (the ones with boxes). Photos by request.

METAL PUZZLES
I have several sets of metal puzzles made by Chad Valley and Gibsons. Those shown are by Chad Valley and come with the solution booklet intact (in French, English and German). In the box are six shiny metal puzzles which, I must admit, I can't do without the instructions! This one is £8.00, others may be slightly less. Email for photos of others.

I started selling games and jigsaws about 12 years ago when I was the proud owner of an antiques and collectables shop in West Malling, Kent. I dealt mainly in smalls at the time and was very taken with the graphics of the games and with doing the jigsaws.
In 2005 we decided to "retire" and moved to Broadstairs on the eastern tip of Kent where we can look out to sea, enjoy the sandy beaches and visit the local ice cream shops! You really can see the sea from our house but you have to be in my stock room - at the top of the house - and stand on tip-toe!

Classic board games are investment winners: Fun, profit and morality for all the family

Nostalgia for an era when families had fun together by rolling dice and moving counters is now being shared by investors, with rare and sought-after board games in good condition fetching hundreds of pounds.
Candy Lovegrove, a games collector who also trades through her website
nostalgiagames.net, says: 'A great place collectors can start is to search out games they used to enjoy in their childhoods. Favourites such as a pristine Fifties set of Buccaneer or a Sixties game of Escape From Colditz can sell for £70.
'Although there is no guarantee prices will rise over time, it is unlikely they will fall. And if well looked after - and played with carefully - you have a fun investment others can enjoy.'
Game on: Look out for childhood favourites, says collector Candy Lovegrove
Candy, 66, of Broadstairs, Kent, says there was a creative explosion of board games in the early 20th Century when they became a focus of family entertainment of the new middle classes.

So, I just opened my parcel, and all the contents are delightful, I am so pleased with them all - particularly the little Salmon jigsaw, and the Tuck's Zag-Zaw!
I just wanted therefore to write to say 'thank-you'. The items I purchased from you were very reasonably priced, and were exactly as described on your website. Also, they arrived very well packaged, and your email correspondence keeping me posted on the progress of my order was great - as were your friendly and knowledgeable replies to a couple of queries I sent you regarding the jigsaws!
I have bookmarked your website, and will be perusing it's pages regularly!
Kind Regards,
Sue Cuthbert.
Hi Candy
